About this site

A note on how this site is made, and where its legal notices are.

How it is built

Every word on this site is a Markdown note in an Obsidian vault, including this sentence. There is no admin interface, no database and no content management system: the folder of notes is the website's content, and I edit it the same way I take any other note. Adding a page means adding a note.

Astro compiles that folder into plain HTML. It checks each note against a schema first, so a missing date or a mistyped field stops the build, and it resizes every photograph to the sizes actually used. Reading anything here needs no JavaScript, and nothing is fetched from a third party.

This site is operated from Germany, so it carries the notices that requires. Both are in German, which is the language they are legally effective in; everything else is in English.
